scrum (software development) digital content user profile video editing prototyping project management content creationStudents will produce a 1–3 minute short video that introduces Quest Labs In Action—a playful framework for school and life. The video includes 11 user personas from a school system.
Think Abbott Elementary or The Office energy. The video should capture what it feels / looks / sounds like to step into the Quest on a school site in a playful way.
There is an example storyboard students can use as a template, yet the project highlights creativity and possibility for each student. The goal is to apply storytelling techniques, design principles, and creative visuals to deliver engaging content tailored for high school peers, educators, and families.
This project goes beyond technical skill-building. Students will not only gain hands-on media arts experience but will also reflect on their own personal and professional development through the QuestLabs framework. Working directly with a Stanford alum and certified academic life coach, students will explore how storytelling can connect to themes of resilience, agency, and lifelong learning.
Throughout the 8-week experience, students will:
- Participate in a few core QuestLabs activities (e.g., journaling, avatar creation, reflection exercises, personal project management skills, executive functioning ).
- Provide feedback on these activities to help QuestLabs improve its curriculum.
- Translate their experience into storytelling by scripting, storyboarding, and producing a video that shares the Glow Up Quest journey.
Tasks & Activities:
- Develop a storyboard and script that captures the Glow Up Quest experience.
- Apply design and media production skills (video editing, graphics, animation, or audio) to bring the story to life.
- Collaborate in small teams, giving and receiving peer feedback.
- Integrate stakeholder feedback (from the QuestLabs education team) into the final product.
- Reflect on personal development skills such as project management, teamwork, and creative problem-solving.
Deliverables:
- A polished 1–3 minute short video (final cut, with raw footage + editing notes).
- A storyboard and script showing the creative process.
- Teaser/trailer content for social media.
- A short reflection journal or feedback summary from students on what they learned (shared privately with the QuestLabs team).
Skills Applied:
- Graphic design, digital storytelling, and social media content creation.
- Video production and editing using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar tools.
- Storyboarding, scripting, and creative review.
- Communication, collaboration, and personal reflection.
Impact for Students:
By the end of the project, students will have produced a professional-quality video while also gaining mentorship in personal development and future-ready skills. This experience will strengthen both their media arts portfolio and their confidence as learners and storytellers.
