Details

Our organization went through a rebrand and would like to update our current website.

We would like a student to design or update new web pages based off of our current website’s functionality. There is already a lot of content that needs to be updated or redesigned to fit the new look and feel of the organization.

This will involve:

  • Conducting background research on our existing web application for the product.
  • Identifying key areas of our current website and what areas of focused might return the best results in a redesign.
  • Learning and using various software design tools. Being aware of how to use Wordpress and pagebuilders like Elementor.
  • Have graphic design experience to implement customized elements.

Deliverables

By the end of the project, students should complete the following list of activities:

  • Familiarize themselves with our existing product
  • Familiarize themselves with a design tool of their choosing (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) and understand how it works
  • Design and/or update content to be available on the current website
  • Present the final design with any information they may be able to provide about maintenance.

Final deliverables should include

  • An attractive look and feel that will tie all of the content of the website together
  • A presentation as stated above of the final designs
  • A working website that contains all of the organization's available information
Mentorship

Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:

  • Current understanding of the organization's objectives, projects, events and programs
  • Understanding of design tools that are used and access to them
  • Any sort of branding or styling advice
  • Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter

About the company

Technology, Arts, Non-profit, philanthropic & civil society

Oddside Arts is a grassroots cultural arts not-for-profit and creative technology artist collective, merging art, technology and wellness through Black speculative design. We work from a point of view that prioritizes mental wellness and reimagines spaces for those who identify as part of Afrodiasporic and Indigenous communities, most especially women, gender-expansive and LGTBQ+ folks, to theorize, create, and contribute to the development of the equitable future.

Oddside Arts explores art through speculative practices (sci-fi & fantasy imaginings, and musings about the future), and the application of technology by using digital design and immersive experiences. Using art as a point of access for critical discussions about accessibility, equity, coalition building, and demystifying the public art process for a cultural community of artists to gain access.
