Project Goal: Enable students to set up a secure, standardized, and automated version control and release management workflow for an organization’s repositories. This project builds practical skills in CI/CD, Git governance, and repository management while laying a foundation for future development projects. Project Scope & Activities Scope Applies to all current and future repositories under the organization (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket). Covers foundational repository setup, CI/CD pipeline configuration, branch protection, templates, and secrets management. Focuses exclusively on one-time setup tasks , not ongoing operational work. Activities 1. Repository Governance & Protections Configure branch protection rules for main and release branches. Enable signed commits and enforce linear history. Set up CODEOWNERS for domain-specific code review. 2. Documentation & Templates Create standard templates for README.md, CONTRIBUTING.md, SECURITY.md, and CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md. Configure pull request and issue templates for consistent workflow. 3. CI/CD & Quality Gates Set up CI pipelines including build, test, static analysis, and security scans. Integrate semantic-release for automated versioning and changelog generation. Configure secrets injection using Vault/KMS or equivalent. 4.
